Wanted: An East Coast Staycation

Today, I’m so excited to introduce Nadine, from Back East Blonde. Even though we’ve never met, I’m pretty sure we’d be the best of friends if we knew each other in real life! She’s got the best outlook on life! As a fellow mid-Atlantic area girl, she knows the value of a good staycation to the local beaches…

Hi, I’m Nadine and I blog over at Back East Blonde. After graduating college, I put my degree in my back pocket and booked it out of California. After an epic road trip, I arrived on the east coast and I’ve loved it here ever since. While Tina is away for on vacay, I’m going to tell you a little bit about where my family has vacationed for my whole life.

The great state of Delaware.

Yup, even when I lived in California, with her giant coast-line a calling, I’d still head back to Delaware.

It’s certainly not what most Californians think of when they imagine vacation.
The typical response when I’d tell someone in Cali where I was headed each summer:
“There are beaches in Delaware?”
Yes, even from highly educated individuals.

Ah and the beaches are just beautiful.
And according to the recent rankings, exceptionally clean.
See for yourself:

Most east coasters vacation at least occasionally to their beach spot of choice.
If you live here, you probably go to one of these places:

Jersey Shore
Delaware Beaches
Maryland (down the ocean)
Virginia
Outer Banks (OBX for the cool kids), North Carolina

You’d never say the Delaware Shore, just as you’d never say the Jersey Beaches.
It’s these types of silly mid-Atlantic east coast cultural quirks that I just love.
And they are the reason I never plan to head back to California.

Perhaps I’ve convinced you to join me next summer on the Delaware beaches?
I sure hope so!
